Retrogrades are never easy because they’re designed to be periods of reflection and especially when it is planets that don’t go retrograde often, we are shocked by the events and energy of the retrograde like Venus. I like to call the first half of 2025 a cleansing period because of the back to back retrogrades and eclipses the first four months have.

With Venus retrograde, it’s always a period of rebellion, jealousy and competition at least for the first half of the retrograde because of the nature of Venus and its need to belong within the traditional beauty standards and relationship norms and within its retrograde, we witness another face to Venus, a rebellious and unapologetic expression of identity, sexuality and community.

I like to look at this particular retrograde as an exercise in getting back parts of ourselves that have been demonized or ostracized by society and our upbringing especially since the south node in Virgo is highlighting a feeling of being caged by how we are judged based on looks, social status and superficial qualities. This is a return to our authentic selves in love and for that to happen, we have to go to war with our surroundings, the state of the world and what is being planted in us.

Venus retrograde is a social movement towards the liberation and unapologetic expression of our desires. It’s a return to a state of pure pleasure that has been taken from us. This is the time to fight anything stealing your natural state of bless.

Here’s a survival guide on how to navigate this month:
