“Everyone is wounded under capitalism” - Robert Greene, father of Evolutionary Astrology.
Saturn’s name is often uttered with a lot of fear in astrology circles. There’s a prevailing sentiment that Saturn transits and returns are some of the hardest times you will ever go through despite Saturn being seen as a teacher that offers tough love to shake us into a sobering reality.
This is definitely something we all agree on. Saturn transits are no joke. It is the lord of time and survival of tough situations. It is associated with suffering in ancient astrology and is often assigned to heavy duty jobs like mining.
One of the prevailing metaphors about Saturn is that it is like being in a hostile environment and survival is for the fittest, toughest and fastest to adapt.
It is true that Saturn transits especially squares and oppositions are tough to survive and could be the karmic equivalent of opening Pandora’s box.
Associated with suffering, going through a tough Saturn transit is guaranteed you walk in one person and come out a completely different one. It rearranged your DNA and internal structure.
Over the recent years, Saturn has been associated with denial and failure. Something people discuss on a daily basis is the fear of not being good enough to honor their desires and achieve their dreams which is Saturnian alright. No one can deny that despair is a Saturnian experience.
Fast forward to today’s climate and we are all going through a major Saturn transit. Saturn is conjunct Neptune in Aries and in a square with Jupiter in Cancer.
Saturn is fallen in Aries which is star lingo for Saturn is weak in Aries which is often confused to be understood as Saturn would be less of a malefic influence than if it were in a strong place but that’s not really the case. Actually, it is quite the opposite.
Saturn’s position today is one where it is difficult to keep the faith and life can feel entirely… absurd.
Yes, Jupiter is afflicted with a square from Saturn holding back it is full manifestation which means that we all feel a little exhausted and trapped. That’s one feeling Jupiter inflicts when it is not having fun. Being trapped is not a fun feeling and it is bound to turn into one of two routes: either Jupiter hands the situation to Mars and you experience anger and frustration or it hands it to Saturn and we get stuck with a feeling of despair and a loop of self generating cycle of feeling happiness or success are just not meant for us. This is when our minds start to tell us we’re doomed.
This is where the trick lies especially as we live under an aggressive political climate that makes it quite easy to lose faith in the future.
The main point about this transit is that we have to turn our fear into faith and break through some really tough situations that are complicated by our surrounding by taking the risks and questioning what we see as reality and whether it is actually circumstantial and temporary.
Once we get stuck between our faith and reality, it is easy to get frozen in body and mind. It is one of those coping mechanisms that are very likely under so much stress on the flexibility and fluidity of Jupiter in Cancer.
If you’re going through a test of one of the main aspects in your life like losing your job suddenly as is the case for so many people, understand that the aim is not to punish you or make you feel defeated, it is actually one of those pushes from the universe to do the impossible and get out of your comfort zone to seek your true potential.
Many people are going to call you crazy and that’s when you know you are on the right path. Right now, no body believing you can do it is a sign you will.
Self doubt is also something that’s very valid right now and the answer to this riddle about success and failure and their definitions in our minds based on capitalistic views is to understand that 2025 is about rebelling against those definitions and doing the impossible.
In the next two years, the generation who are experiencing major shifts socially and economically is about to change the entire game especially millennials.
If you must hand over this frustration to a planet, hand it over to Mars to seek action to feel fulfilled or Saturn to start from 0 and experience the thrill of manifesting a blooming garden of opportunity because you refuse to be frozen in fear.
If you’d rather rest, that would be okay too. Understand that a huge part of the spiritual work for Jupiter in Cancer is actually to go back to our roots and our true selves and find them again especially the parts that were challenged or prohibited from free expression because we had to perform under capitalism and patriarchy to survive. Eventually, we’re all going to have to come home to ourselves this year and sit with the truth of our feelings and rest is mandatory.
