Capricorn Season: Reframing "Defeat."
"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. taking this world as it is and not as I would have it"
Capricorn season is usually a time to look back. It is the mark of reorganizing and reminiscing on the past year, what we would do differently and the oaths we renew with ourselves. It is a time to recommit to goals moving forward, however this year, Capricorn season is bringing intense choices about the past, new beginnings and reclaiming personal power. There are several factors in the sky that set the stage for a major event this month that’s expected to shift the paradigm for all of us.
Capricorn is the sign of growth. It is the drive inside of us to do more and without Capricorn energy, there would be no great structures, no difficult roads taken and mastered. With that being said, Capricorn energy can also have its negative sides just like every other sign in the zodiac. One major downside to the commitment of Capricorn to build is the pressure of the experience which eventually results into self esteem associations with achievements to the point of wrapping our entire identity into what we can, could or already accomplished and forgetting about every other aspect of our creativity.
While Capricorns are great managers, manifestors and masters of their own destiny, they can also go through intense experiences of judgment, adversity and tests of survival. These experiences are not only exclusive to Capricornians. We all have Saturn placements and we have all experienced one shade or another of this energy where you have to make difficult decisions to survive and not bat an eye after and one universal things about those Saturnian experiences is they stay with you and they shape your sense of self and survival along the way.
Saturnian experiences are the kind of experiences we always refer back to when reality came down crumbling on us like a ton of pricks and that could be a positive memory where we rose to the occasion and survived or painful memories of the past where we realized there was nothing we could do but accept reality. Either way, Saturnian experiences leave a mark and even the bravest of us fear and respect the intensity of the test.
This Capricorn season is about what happens after reality hits and we have to deal with difficult choices especially since Mars retrograde emphasizes this feeling of “defeat”, we are in for a process of acceptance and grounding what our potential means, what failure is and how to deal with the grief of letting go of something dear while rebuilding a more secure and nurturing foundation to our needs, wants and goals in the future.
During the Saturnian experience, we learn very fast that we have to take things seriously because danger or threats to our structures of stability are very present whether these are bosses, friends, parents or even any form of authority in our lives that begin to consistently feed us negative messages about ourselves and our abilities. Capricorn energy is already sensitive to what one can and cannot do. The philosophy of Capricorn is if you cannot make the difficult choice and carry it through, that would be considered a failure and while this kind of survivalist thinking is expected from Capricorn with its training to withstand life between air and water (get it? because they’re the sea goat climbing mountains all the time), this line of thinking is still one of the most potentially dangerous to our development mentally, financially, spiritually and emotionally because it calcifies us in time under the guise of duty.
The danger with Capricorn is always attachment to protecting what we achieved more than our essence and we store that fear of never being that great again in our Saturns which get activated during Capricorn season.
The process of grieving transitioning from what we already achieved gets complicated when we have a critical voice in our lives or heads that attempt to convince us we’re not good enough. Those experiences of others lording over us elicit a response of attempting to prove them wrong, it’s a trick that puts us in an exhaustive fight. This is how life gets us. We attach to the idea of winning the fight while losing ourselves, passion and will to move forward.
The trick during this Capricorn season is to understand the power we are giving away to others when we engage in a fight about how they perceive us. This is how we lose our grounding and connection to our true essence.
The more we give our powers away to others’ perception, the more we invest major parts of ourselves that anticipate and attach to others. Over time, this fight transitions into an internal war about who we are that leaves us incredibly doubtful of overcoming and starting all over again. The mind, in wanting to protect itself, identifies itself according to others’ perception to avoid any shock that comes with more criticism. We find ourselves giving into negative narratives about ourselves.
With Mars retrograde, north node in Taurus conjunct Uranus, we are going through major defining moments about purpose. We’re consistently given a choice during this time to choose between authenticity (Uranus) and duty (Saturn).
The lessons of north node in Taurus are about believing whole heartedly we can survive whatever life throws our away especially when we have to say goodbye to what has constituted our stability for the past few years. The lesson here that attachment while providing this fake sense of safety is not the ultimate goal of this transit. The ultimate goal is to restore our understanding of our essence that made this stability happen or can create stability in the future. The main lesson is we will create the stability even through uncertainty.
Giving into fear and panic is our biggest enemy this Capricorn season. The motto moving forward is about conserving our energy after an especially intense experience with mental warfare this past year. Capricorn season is about getting back our sense of duty that aligns with our authenticity and surrendering to what may come with acceptance not defeat.
Amazing, thank you! <333
I'm in awe of you. Thank you for this, not a fun read but necessary.
